1917 'Flying Jenny' Biplane on View at Ira G. Ross Aerospace Museum

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Almost 300 local aerospace dignitaries and supporters attended a private event on September 16th at the Ira G. Aerospace Museum in the HSBC Arena. The event celebrated Western New York’s contributions to aerospace history and the return of a 1917 Curtiss JN-4 "Flying Jenny."

City Grill Suspect Trial Date Scheduled

BUFFALO, N.Y. - One of the lead attorneys for the accused City Grill murder suspect has withdrawn from the case. Terrence McKelvey will no longer represent Riccardo McCray.

Taxpayers will foot the bill for two lawyers assigned by the court. They are E. Earl Key and Samuel Davis. McKelvey was allowed to step aside to handle his private practice cases.

McCray's trial is scheduled to start on March 14, 2011.

McCray is charged with murdering four people and wounding four others outside City Grill in downtown Buffalo in August.  Several family members were in the courtroom on Thursday, but had no comment for reporters.

Benefit For Widow of City Grill Shooting Victim

BUFFALO, NY - A benefit will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2010 for the widow of Danyell Mackin. He was one of four people murdered outside City Grill in August.

On August 14, 2010 while celebrating with family and friends in preparation for his one year anniversary reception, Danyell "Dee" Mackin Sr. was tragically killed outside of the City Grill Restaurant in downtown Buffalo.

His widow Tanisha Mackin is now raising their  two small children.

Earlier this year, Tanisha was diagnosed with colon cancer.  She went through a successful surgery and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

A benefit to help with expenses will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2010, 3:00 pm - 7:00 p.m. at the Durham Memorial Outreach Center located at 200 East Eagle Street in Buffalo.

Sophie's Club to Open New Respite Center for Families with Severely Medically Challenged Kids

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Sophie’s Club unveiled plans for the first in a series of 10-bed, state-of-the-art respite centers on Thursday at a downtown press conference. The first of their kind to be built in Western New York, the facilities will serve local families in desperate need of respite services for their precious medically challenged children.

Sophie’s Club Respite Center and Kids Spa in East Aurora provides an “Oasis of Love” that provides local families of severely medically challenged children a safe and loving environment where the children can be pampered and cared for while caregivers take a break for just a day or up to a week.

These centers will be fully equipped to care of children with special needs. Each facility will have a 10-bed capacity, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with services provided at no cost to the families

Twain Scholar at Central Library Saturday for Free Lecture

Literally, hot off the press, a new book has been published chronicling the personal letters of Mark Twain during his time in Buffalo. This, along with a host of Twain anecdotes, will be discussed during a free lecture Saturday, September 25 featuring Twain scholar and author, Robert H. Hirst, Ph.D.  The event, open to the public, takes place at 2 p.m. in the downtown Central Library located in Lafayette Square.

Man Walks to Washington DC to Initiate Change

Randy Sargent, President of Stop Killing Clothing and community activist from Buffalo, will be walking from the Buffalo City Hall steps to Washington DC to grab lawmaker’s attention. His goal is be the voice of vicitims of homocide throughout our entire nation.

His journey began on August 28th at 2:00pm when he stepped foot off of the City Hall  steps in Buffalo. The total distance of the walk is 600 miles.
