Homicide Memorial Walk Takes Off to D.C.

BUFFALO, NY - Randy Sargent, President of Stop Killing Clothing and community activist from Buffalo left from Buffalo City Hall Saturday.

He will walk over 600 miles from the steps of City Hall to Washington D.C. He will be the voice of all the victims and the families affected by homicide throughout the nation.

Sargent will walk through Cleveland, OH, Pittsburgh, PA, Baltimore, MD and finally finishing at Washington, D.C.

While on the walk he will be carrying the names of homicide victims as a symbol of the collective death, pain, loss and mourning of the Buffalo community. He will hand deliver that pain to the footsteps of the White House.

Every one mile Randy walks he will place a sign on the side of the road with a victims name on it.

The entire 600 mile route will memorialize the victims of violence and be a reminder to our community what violence is having on our nation.

Hero Central: Puppies Rescued from Lake Erie

Buffalo, N.Y. - If dogs could talk, Tobie and Lexie - two adorable Shih-Tzu puppies would have quite a story to tell. The two tiny balls of energy and fur were out running errands with their owner Thursday morning, when they stopped to pick up supplies at a warehouse along the Outer Harbor. That's when the two little guys let their curiosity get the best of them.

"All of the sudden I saw the male here just dive over the edge ... just looking for the water, and he didn't know how far down it was," said Bill Maxwell of St. Catherines, ON. "And then she went in. She follows him everywhere."

One by one Tobie and Lexie fell 20 feet into the waters of Lake Erie.

"I yelled and screamed. There's no ladders anywhere here and that's like 15 feet down."

BUFFALO, NY - Buffalo Police were called to an apartment on Brunswick Boulevard on the city's east side Saturday for a report of a baby death.

The baby was taken to Sister's Hospital just after 1 p.m. No word on the cause of death.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The attorney for Riccardo McCray says his client maintains he is not the City Grill shooter and he told him "I have never shot a real gun in my life."

McCray was arraigned in Buffalo City Court on Thursday morning. The 23-year-old faces four counts of second degree murder in connection with the August 14th shooting at City Grill on Main Street. Four people were killed, four others were injured.

McCray turned himself into police on Wednesday even though he insists he is not the person police should be looking for.

Attorney Terrence McKelvey told Two On Your Side's Claudine Ewing that McCray attended Burgard High School but did not graduate. Over the past few years, he has mainly worked assembly line and factory jobs.

He also said his client told him that he never shot a real gun in his life.

Murder On Main Happened Hours after Murder Near ECMC

BUFFALO, NY -- On Thursday, August 12, 2010, a man was shot outside a Walden Avenue deli.

Two of the shooting victims friends were inside the store, including Willie McCaa. Kenyatta Cobb, a WNY Law Enforcement Chaplain saw McCaa at the hospital when the victim arrived. "He said to me I was in the store I came out and I saw the other boy putting him in the car and I followed them up. He handed him to me and I took him in."

What happened from there is a pattern of violence with many question marks. The man with McCaa was shot and killed as he left ECMC.

The following night, McCaa was murdered outside City Grill in downtown Buffalo.

City of Buffalo Salaries in Line with State Average

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- City of Buffalo employees had an average pay of $42,448 for its 1,303 employees, according to a report released Thursday by the Empire Center for New York State Policy. The average pay for city employees across the state is $43,817.

The highest paid city employees outside New York City were in Westchester, one of the nation's most expensive places to live. The city of Yonkers, with 993 employees, led the state with an average pay of $71,659.
