Kaleida Health has announced that the DASCO/Krog development team has been selected to construct a new $11 million medical office building for Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

“Through a physician-led discussion and analysis, we have found that a medical office building on the hospital campus is the next logical step to take after the success of our recent expansion and the unprecedented growth that the hospital has witnessed over the past few years,” said Chris Lane, president of Millard Fillmore Hospital.

DASCO, based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida is a nationally renowned healthcare development firm.  For more than 23 years, DASCO has specialized in the development, acquisition and management of medical office buildings and healthcare facilities.

The Krog Corp., based in Orchard Park, is a design/build firm specializing in general contracting, construction management and development services.  The company's portfolio includes projects for new and renovated facilities in the healthcare, commercial, industrial, hospitality, educational and institutional sectors.

The proposed medical office building, which will be owned by the joint venture development team along with potential physician investors, would add 60,000 square feet to the campus.  It is designed to accommodate the growing demand for physician office space related to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital’s expansion.

“DASCO is proud to have been selected to partner with Kaleida Health on this critical expansion project,” said Malcolm Sina, President and CEO of DASCO Companies. “The DASCO/Krog team is committed to fast tracking the delivery of this project. We are confident that our experience and expertise will contribute to the successful delivery of a quality facility that meets the needs of the physicians and the community. We look forward to a long-term relationship with all of the parties involved.”

In recognition of the growing needs of the northtowns community, Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital recently completed a two-year, $64 million expansion, which added more than 100,000 square feet to the facility.

The new space includes a new emergency department, the transfer of 60 hospital beds from within Kaleida Health to the campus, ten new surgical suites, a new lab, new lobby, retail space and registration.

The goal is to begin the official planning process with the Town of Amherst by January 1st.

Construction is expected to begin in 2011 with the building becoming operational in 2012.

Millard Fillmore Suburban is a 261-bed community hospital and a subsidiary of Kaleida Health, Western New York’s largest health care provider.  The hospital offers services in emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, urology, otolaryngology, and orthopedics, internal medicine, family practice, and geriatrics.

The hospital also supports residency-training programs of the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in anesthesiology, emergency medicine, general surgery, urology, and obstetrics and gynecology, and family practice.
