Iskalo Development’s Electric Tower in downtown Buffalo has joined the Peace Bridge in honoring Blessed Mother Teresa on the evening of August 26 to mark the 100th anniversary of her birth. The downtown landmark will be illuminated in blue and white, the colors of Blessed Mother Teresa’s order of women religious, the Missionaries of Charity.

“Iskalo Development is pleased to illuminate the Electric Tower in blue and white in honor of the 100th birthday of Blessed Mother Teresa, as requested by the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo,” said Paul B. Iskalo, president and CEO, Iskalo Development Corp. “Mother Teresa’s lifelong acts of devotion and kindness affected and influenced people of all countries and faiths, and her legacy transcends the secular.”

One of the most recognizable buildings in the Buffalo skyline, the Electric Tower, owned by Iskalo Development, has been returned to its original grandeur including a comprehensive restoration of the building lobby and common areas, and a full building mechanical system replacement.

For special occasions and community events, a series of LED lights located on the top three tiers of the Electric Tower are lit in custom colors at dusk and stay lit until dawn.

Earlier this month, the Peace Bridge Authority announced that it would honor the request of the Diocese of Buffalo and the Diocese of St. Catharines, Ontario, illuminating the international span in honor of Blessed Mother Teresa, who is currently being promoted for sainthood by the Vatican.
