BUFFALO, N.Y. - The 37th and newest carving completed as part of a project following the October 2006 storm is now on display at the Erie Basin Marina.

Carvings for a Cause unveiled a statue of Father Nelson Baker made from a Chinese Elm tree. Since 1986, Our Lady of Victory Basilica and the Diocese of Buffalo have been working to secure his canonization. In 1987, Father Baker reached the first of the three steps necessary by being named by the Vatican as a Servant of God.

Carvings for a Cause uses trees lost in the October 2006 storm and others and transforms them into works of art that honor numerous Western New York individuals and symbols from both past and present.
