Kaleida Hosts Heart-Healthy Dance Lessons

Event Will Include Expert Health Screenings

Join Spirit of Women to dance, laugh, eat, and learn at the Day of Dance Event, a community-based event hosted by Kaleida Health to improve women’s health on Thursday February 17 from 6-9 pm at the Millennium Hotel on Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga, NY.

The Buffalo Athletic Club (BAC) will feature demonstrations and instructions on dancing sensations including Zumba at the event for everyone to get involved.

The Day of Dance will also include a wide range of available health experts, screenings and information on important cardiovascular issues like stroke education, blood pressure checks, and body mass index screening.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at all Kaleida Health cashier offices and at the Millennium Hotel the night of the event.

Day of Dance is being held in over 60 cities throughout the U.S., welcoming entire communities to experience dance and celebrate health. More importantly, they are being invited to learn about cardiovascular disease—the leading cause of death for both men and women. Cardiovascular disease refers to problems of the heart and/or blood vessels that bring blood to and from the heart.

“The Day of Dance is an excellent opportunity to encourage everyone to increase physical activity,” said Susan Graham, M.D., medical director, Heart Failure Program, Buffalo General Hospital.  “Whether you’re able to enjoy simple rhythm and movement or routines like the Rhumba, for example, dance or music can be great energizers and help improve your overall health with regular exercise and eating a healthy diet.”
