Health, People

Teresa R. Hennon, MD, has been recruited from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health to establish a new pediatric rheumatology service at Women & Children Hospital.

Effective August 1, Dr. Hennon will provide pediatric rheumatology outpatient and inpatient services at Women & Children’s Hospital.  She returns to Western New York where she received her medical degree from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and after completing her training in Pittsburgh and spending two years at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics.  She recently moved to Buffalo with her husband and two children and says she is excited to become a part of the Buffalo medical community.

Dr. Hennon, in collaboration with the Division of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology and its Chief, Mark Ballow, M.D., will ensure quality care for all rheumatology outpatients and inpatients, prompt consultations to referring physicians and continuous physician coverage for patient and family needs.

Dr. Hennon indicates she will work closely with support staff and a nurse designated to the service to provide patients and families with social and school support.  She also plans to actively participate in teaching University at Buffalo medical students and residents via rotations in the clinic and on the floors.

As a pediatric rheumatologist, Dr. Hennon will evaluate and provide comprehensive care to patients with childhood rheumatic diseases including, but not limited, to juvenile arthritis, juvenile spondyloarthropathy, systemic lupus erythematosus, mixed connective tissue disease, juvenile dermatomyositis, vasculitis, scleroderma, Kawasaki disease, HSP, and Raynaud’s disease.  In addition, Dr. Hennon will evaluate and provide a care plan for patients with prolonged joint pain, muscle pain or weakness, unexplained rashes and fevers of unknown origin.

Dr. Hennon completed her residency in Pediatrics and Fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Rheumatology.

Dr. Hennon will direct five outpatient clinic sessions each week.  For more information or to schedule an appointment effective August 1, please call (716) 878-1689.

Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, a Kaleida Health facility and teaching hospital for the University at Buffalo School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, is the regional center for specialized pediatric, perinatal and obstetrical services in Western New York and beyond.
