Saturday is 'Electronic Recycling Day' in Tonawanda | Environment

Erie County Legislator Kevin Hardwick, R-Tonawanda, reminds residents to gather all unwanted computer and electronic items for an Electronic Recycling Day planned for Saturday.
Sponsored by Erie County, General Motors and UAW, the event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at GM Tonawanda Engine Plant #5, 280 Vulcan St., between Niagara Street/River Road and Kenmore Avenue.
Items that will be accepted include: computers, monitors, terminals, network equipment, keyboards, mice, other accessories, and printers/scanners. Also, cell phones, iPods, VCRs/DVD players, fax machines, circuit boards, video game systems, batteries and universal power supplies.
Televisions will be accepted for a $5 charge. Participants may be required to verify that materials are generated by households.
For information, please call 858-6800, option 4. Items that will NOT be accepted include: fluorescent bulbs, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, kitchen/personal appliances, household hazardous waste, or pharmaceuticals.
