Transformation at the Albright Knox Art Gallery
News

BUFFALO, NY-- A new work of art is being installed at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery that will transform the stair case connecting the Gallery's 1905 Albright and the 1962 Knox buildings. Once built, it will be the largest Scribble Drawing by renowned artist, Sol LeWitt, to be installed anywhere.

The work is scheduled to be completed in October, and once completed, it will remain on view indefinitely. The massive undertaking will encompass several thousand square feet of drawing, comprising 15 artists working seven hours a day, six days a week to achieve this undertaking.

The idea for the Albright-Know's work is based on a complex of matrix graphite scribbles built up to suggest tubular shapes that modulate in horizontal and vertical directions, vacillating between black and white.
