9/11: This Is Nothing New

9/11: This Is Nothing New

9/11: This Is Nothing New

by Susan Marie

My phone rang. I were told to turn on the TV. I stared in abject horror at the screen as a plane flew directly into the 2nd tower of The World Trade Center. I thought: How is this possible in America, let alone New York City, the most populous city in the U.S, the largest metropolitan area in the world?

All I knew is that people were dying.

After 9/11, every available person volunteered to assist NYC ranging from the health care field, firefighters, police force, and everyday people. The attitude in America was one of solidarity. Primate Experimentation: A Canisius College Controversy

This Friday, September 9th, Canisius College’s Institute for the Study of Human-Animal Relations (ISHAR) will host a presentation entitled “The Use of Primates in Biomedical Research: A Personal Perspective,” led by Dr. James Ha, head of the Colony Demographics and Genetics Program at the Washington National Primate Research Center (WNPRC) at the University of Washington (UW).

According to the ISHAR website, Dr. Ha is expected to provide an “overview of the challenges, costs, and benefits of using primates in biomedical research.”  The event is expected to draw a sizeable crowd, as this event is both open to the public and a curriculum requirement for anthrozoology graduate students and undergraduate Animal Behavior, Ecology and Conservation (ABEC) students.

A Heartfelt Thanks to All the American Workers on Labor Day

As a working professional, married man, and a dedicated parent the writer is certainly thankful for all the great things in his life, including having a great family.  Furthermore, the writer has met and developed friendships with many great people that have had a positive effect on his life.  The writer would like to mention some other people that play a big part in his life as well. These are great people that often get unnoticed in the content of breaking news stories in Western New York. The great people that the writer is referring to are the American Workers; hard working, and dedicated people that often don’t receive enough recognition for their efforts to keep American running smoothly.

Children physical activities and parents participation

Children physical activities and parents participation
The writer has often mentioned in previous articles that parents could improve their physical health if they involved themselves with their children’s activities especially in Buffalo, New York.  Well now there is one more reason why parents should participate in outdoor activities with their child or children. Young children are being watched by adults that don’t have great intentions.  Almost everyday the news there seems to be news of a child being kidnapped.  Some of the children that have been kidnapped were enjoying one of their favorite pastimes such bicycling, and walking around in their neighborhoods
