South Buffalo Alive Announces Successful ‘Bricks in the Bowl’ Campaign

Twenty engraved bricks were added to South Buffalo Alive’s “Bricks in the Bowl” in Cazenovia Park in early September. The 20 bricks were a one-year record for the fundraising event, according to Marge Ryan, president of the nonprofit organization.

“Bricks in the Bowl” is located next to the 100-year-old Frederick Law Olmsted Shelter House in Cazenovia Park and includes 250 square feet of personalized bricks within a landscaped perimeter. Brick engraving, provided by Stone Art Memorial Co. of Lackawanna, occurs just one time per year, typically in late summer or early fall.

“We are close to running out of space for our commemorative bricks,” said Ryan. Individuals and groups interested in reserving a brick to be installed in 2014 are encouraged to contact her at 826-3158 before the supply is exhausted.
