BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Ford Dealers of Western New York today announced that applications are available for the 2014 Ford Friendship Express program. Running for nearly two decades, the philanthropic program has donated more than 71 Ford vans to nonprofit organizations in the Western New York area.

“This program focuses on a great need that is often not top of mind for donors or supporters – giving nonprofit organizations access to safe vehicles,” said Scott Bieler, chairman, Ford Friendship Express selection committee. “I encourage every nonprofit in need of transportation to apply to Ford Friendship Express.”

The following items are important program details for eligible organizations looking to drive away in a new Ford van:

  • Applications are now available at www.wnyford.com/communityevents
  • The deadline to apply is November 20, 2013 (Details below)
  • Organizations must reside in one of the following NY or PA counties: Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, McKean, and Potter counties
  • The 2014 van recipients will be notified by January; the public announcement will take place at the Buffalo Auto Show in February

Since its inception in 1996, the Ford Friendship Express program has awarded 71 vans valued at nearly $1.8 million to groups throughout Western New York.

In 2013, Buffalo Museum of Science, Cantalician Center for Learning, and the Family Help Center each received a new Ford vehicle. Additional past recipients include: Schiller Park Community Services, Inc., Franciscan Center, The Bristol Home, Alcohol and Drug Dependency Services, Be-a-Friend/Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County, Boys and Girls Clubs of Eden, Homespace Inc., Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northtowns, Computers for Children, Kids Escaping Drugs, SABAH, Meals on Wheels of Buffalo and Erie County, Friends of the Night People, St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy, Camp Good Days & Special Times, Student Union at SUNY at Buffalo, Goodwill Industries of Western New York, Rural Transit Service, American Red Cross, The Buffalo Zoo and many more.

All applications from organizations residing in Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, McKean, and Potter counties must be returned and received by November 20, 2013 to be eligible for consideration for the 2014 program.
