Title (Max 100 Characters)
A crew of nine Nielsen employees participated in Nielsen's Global Impact Day. This is a day set aside when employees leave their normal assignments and workload to volunteer in their communities, making an impact on the lives of others. This year Nielsen selected The Salvation Army Buffalo's Emergency Family Shelter as the beneficiary of their hard work and service. "Our social investments in civic and social justice organizations, educational institutions, and grassroots initiatives have rooted Nielsen locally and nationally." from www.Nielsen.com
"Volunteers are the backbone of our community. These people are heroes; sharing their time, talents and energy to help us make improvements for the people we serve and lighten the load on our very limited and busy staff," said Major Thomas Applin, Buffalo Area Coordinator of The Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army's Emergency Family Shelter provides safe and clean temporary living accommodations to families in desperate need. The facility is staffed 24 hours a day, with trained counselors who work diligently to meet the basic needs of the homeless families in Western New York.
