"Fair Housing Fair" April 30 Celebrates Fair Housing Month With Workshops, Prizes

In honor of Fair Housing Month, the West Side Housing Partnership will host a Community Fair Housing Fair Saturday, April 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Belle Center. The fair will feature free workshops and raffle prizes, refreshments and a host of information on fair housing issues. Council Member David Rivera, a member of the Partnership, will speak on fair housing issues.

Guests can enter a raffle to win home repair and garden supply baskets and a grand prize of a $100 gift certificate to Dibble True Value Hardware, donated generously by the store.

Complimentary smoke detectors will be available for guests who ask about city services, courtesy of the Mayor's office, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Carbon monoxide detectors will be also be available for income-qualified guests.

The fair’s workshops will include:

  • Mosaic Tiling Demonstration (PUSH)
  • Building Built-in Shelves from Dresser Drawers (PUSH)
  • Seasonal Home Maintenance (Heart of the City Neighborhoods)
  • Introduction to Buying Your First Home (West Side Neighborhood Housing Services and Westminster Economic Development Initiative)
  • Easy Drywall Repair (West Side Neighborhood Housing Services)
