University Community Farmers Market

The University Community Farmers Market (UCFM) is now in its fifth season and is open every Saturday, from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. through October 15, 2011. The market is located on the University at Buffalo’s South Campus – Main Street at Kenmore Avenue.

This year’s market features vendors selling fresh produce and artisan products. Special events with a focus on nutrition, wellness and gardening are scheduled for the third Saturday of each month. The schedule through July is as follows:

July 16th – Garden Extravaganza – in conjunction with the 10th Annual Samuel P. Capen Garden Walk

Informational and educational programs will be offered by the UB School of Nursing and the UB School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences during education days on the third Saturday of the month later in the summer.

The University Community Farmers Market is a collaboration between the University Heights Collaborative, University at Buffalo and the surrounding South Campus neighborhoods. It is community program administered by a committee of volunteers who are focused on promoting wellness and community sustainability through the availability of fresh produce and locally grown food while also promoting local entrepreneurs.

The UCFM is still accepting applications from vendors who are interested in joining the market, as well as community volunteers who would like to help coordinate the market’s activities.
