West Side NHS and Partners Adopt a Home for NeighborWorks Week
West Side Neighborhood Housing Services, Black Rock-Riverside Neighborhood Housing Services and community partners including Habitat for Humanity are changing Joe Domeracki's life during NeighborWorks® Week, June 4-11. The 73-year-old resident is disabled, has limited income, and has difficulty keeping up with home repairs. This week, volunteers will finish three weeks of work to fix up and paint his house. The project has brought in donations from all over Buffalo to help get Joe's home insured so he can take advantage of West Side NHS funds to make bigger repairs to his home.

This adopt-a-home project is part of National NeighborWorks® Week, a weeklong celebration of the accomplishments of the NeighborWorks® network.  During NeighborWorks® Week,  West Side Neighborhood Housing Services and other NeighborWorks® organizations across the country will mobilize tens of thousands of business people, residents and government officials in a week of neighborhood change and awareness. In 2010, more than 4,700 families benefited from the week’s activities nationwide.
The last service day for Joe's house is June 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. After the work is completed, West Side NHS will throw a volunteer celebration at 359 Connecticut Street, which volunteers from all three service days are welcome to attend.
