Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market Lists Oct. 25 Highlights

 

The popular Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, continues its 15th season on Oct. 25. A program of the Elmwood Village Association, the market is held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, rain or shine, through Nov. 29. 

Providing musical entertainment on Oct. 25 (weather permitting) will be violinist David Adamczyk from 9:30 to 11 a.m, followed by Monica Huntz from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Occupying the market’s community tables this Saturday will be Asha Sanctuary, GA Family Services Foster Care and Cornell University. Additionally, Weiss Farms will be bringing their popular pumpkin wagon back to the market on Oct. 25!

Good things are brewing in nearby London, Ontario. In fact, the good times have been brewing since 1847! 

London is home to Labatt’s state-of-the-art brewhouse, where founder John Kinder Labatt started brewing beer some 167 years ago. Today, the London facility operates 24 hours a day, five days a week, producing the equivalent of more than one billion bottles of beer a year!

Dog Ears Bookstore to Host Mystery Writers’ Workshop

 

A special Mystery Writers’ Workshop will be offered at Dog Ears Bookstore & Café on Saturday, Nov. 1 and Sunday, Nov. 2. The cost is $10 for individual sessions, $15 for two sessions, $25 for a single day and $50 for an entire weekend of activities. Registration is required; please contact the bookstore for details.

Aspiring mystery writers will have the opportunity to hear from and question experts from the criminal justice system as well as published authors in the genre. Presenters and workshops include:

Movies and Book Signings Coming to Dog Ears Bookstore & Café

 

Fun-filled movie nights and book signings will take place at Dog Ears Bookstore & Café in the coming weeks. The nonprofit community bookstore is located at 688 Abbott Road in South Buffalo.

October Movie Nights at Dog Ears will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 and 30. The fun kicks off on Oct. 23 with the family classic “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.” Featured on Oct.30 will be the supernatural (R-rated) thriller “Donnie Darko.” Snacks will be available at a nominal cost, and donations are welcome.

The popular Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, continues its 15th season on Oct. 18. A program of the Elmwood Village Association, the market is held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, rain or shine, through Nov. 29. 

Providing musical entertainment on Oct. 18 (weather permitting) will be Brian & Peg from 9:30 to 11 a.m, followed by Porcelain Train from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Occupying the market’s community tables this Saturday will be Border Community Services of Niagara University and Yelp Buffalo. Additionally, Weiss Farms will be bringing their popular pumpkin wagon to the market on Oct. 18 and 25!

A favorite Western New York tradition, the Christmas in the Country Holiday Artisan Market will celebrate its 30th season when it returns to the Hamburg Fairgrounds Nov. 6-9. And for the first time in its storied history, Christmas in the Country will offer complimentary return passes so patrons can enjoy the sights, sounds and scents of this one-of-a-kind shopping experience all weekend long!  

“We have always felt our patrons needed more than just one day to properly enjoy this event,” said Daniel Kaczynski of Premier Promotions, organizers of the event. “Now everyone has the opportunity to come back as much as they would like at no additional cost.”

Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village has plenty of fun family activities planned during the month of November, from a celebration of National Pickle Day to a rare look inside the museum’s state-of-the-art collections storage building!

Heritage Village relies on the hard work and dedication of many volunteers, and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 15, will host a Volunteer Brunch for all those who have volunteered at the facility over the past year. Volunteers are asked to contact Heritage Village for more information.
