WNY Sports Card Expo Features Impressive Lineup of Athletes and Actors

 

Baseball, football and basketball legends — including several Hall of Fame members — will take part in the Western New York Sports Card Expo Sept. 20-21 at Batavia Downs Gaming, 8315 Park Road, Batavia. Also taking part in this unique event, presented by The Sports Corner, will be professional wrestling great Ric Flair and four actors from the HBO hit series “The Sopranos.” 

Kicking off the autograph lineup from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, will be NBA Hall of Famer and former Syracuse University star Dave Bing, along with former Syracuse standouts John Wallace, Roosevelt Bouie, Lawrence Moten and Pearl Washington.

Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market Lists Aug. 23 Highlights

 

The popular Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, continues its 15th season on Aug. 23. A program of the Elmwood Village Association, the market is held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, rain or shine, through Nov. 29. 

Providing musical entertainment on Aug. 23 (weather permitting) will be Acousticopia from 9:30 to 11 a.m, followed by the Kathy Moriarty Trio from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The market will also feature this season’s second Wellness Lane sponsored by the Wellness Institute of Greater Buffalo.

Thompson Square, Engelbert Humperdinck, Lynyrd Skynyrd Join Seneca Allegany Events Center Entertainm

Take one part modern country, one part classic pop music and one part Southern rock, and it all adds up to a diverse entertainment lineup at Seneca Allegany Events Center this fall.  Coming to the 2,400-seat venue in Salamanca will be Thompson Square on October 26, Engelbert Humperdinck on November 7 and Lynyrd Skynyrd on November 29.

MQA Sports Boosters to Host Annual Meat Raffle

 

The Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School Sports Boosters will host their second annual meat raffle on Friday, Sept. 26, at St. Andrew’s Church, 34 Francis Ave., Sloan. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with the raffle beginning at 7 p.m.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Cheektowaga school’s sports program. Tickets are just $5 pre-sale or $8 at the door and admission includes two slices of pizza and pop, beer or wine. Additional pizza slices will be available for purchase.

In addition to the meat raffle, there will also be multiple 50/50 raffles and a theme tray raffle. The event is open to the public, ages 21 and older.

Providing musical entertainment on Aug. 16 (weather permitting) will be the Nickel City String Band from 9:30 to 11 a.m, followed by Porcelain Train from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. International experience and West Side Community Services will occupy the market’s community group tables.

Explore Buffalo Sets Free Tours at Cirque du Square

Explore Buffalo will offer free mini-tours of Niagara Square on Saturday, Aug. 16, as part of Cirque du Square, an exciting new event being launched this summer that is bringing new life to Buffalo's most impressive public gathering space. Explore Buffalo's tour will encompass the history of the square itself in Joseph Ellicott's 1804 radial street plan, the McKinley Monument at the square's center and the buildings around the square, most notably City Hall. 

Tours will begin on the hour at 11 a.m., noon, and 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m. from the Explore Buffalo tent in Niagara Square.

Big Entertainment Coming to Seneca Casinos: Alanis Morissette, Bill Engvall, Steve Miller Band

Fall entertainment at Seneca Resorts & Casinos just got a whole lot more exciting. Three major lineup additions are slated for the Seneca Events Centers in October and November, including Alanis Morissette on October 4 in Niagara Falls, Bill Engvall on November 16 in Salamanca and Steve Miller Band on November 21 in Niagara Falls. Five new acts also are booked between September and November for the smaller Bear’s Den Showroom in Niagara Falls, including A Tribute to Martin and Lewis, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, John Hiatt, Marc Cohn and Coco Montoya.
