Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market Lists Aug. 2 Highlights

 

The popular Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, continues its 15th season on Aug. 2. A program of the Elmwood Village Association, the market is held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, rain or shine, through Nov. 29. 

Providing musical entertainment on Aug. 2 (weather permitting) will be the Buffalo Cello School from 9:30 to 11 a.m, followed by singer/guitarist Rob Falgiano from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. KidBiz and Fidelis Care New York will occupy the market’s community group tables.

Comedian Lewis Black, Singer Sheena Easton Coming to Seneca Casinos This Fall

Two additional renowned entertainers will appear at the Seneca Resorts & Casinos this fall. Comedian and social critic Lewis Black will take the stage at Seneca Allegany Events Center in Salamanca on Saturday, Oct. 18, and singer/actress Sheena Easton will perform at the Bear’s Den Showroom in Niagara Falls on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Catholic Charities WIC to Host Breastfeeding Walk, Healthy Baby Festival Aug. 8 in Erie County

Anyone in support of a healthy start for babies or who would like to learn more about breastfeeding – are urged to participate in Catholic Charities free Breastfeeding Walk and Healthy Baby Festival on Aug. 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Delaware Park at the entrance of Colvin Avenue and Amherst Street.  

Catholic Charities Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition program, which serves all of Erie and Niagara counties, is hosting the event to raise awareness of the benefits and significance of breastfeeding. The walk, in celebration of World Breastfeeding Week taking place Aug. 1-7 in more than 170 countries worldwide, is also designed to create community support to friends, family and others who are or may be considering breastfeeding, or who have breastfed.

Buffalo River Fest Park Hosts 3rd Annual “Wardstock”

The Valley Community Association will host their 3rd Annual “Wardstock”, presented by Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, on Saturday, August 2nd at the Buffalo River Fest Park, located at 249 Ohio Street, Buffalo, NY from 3pm-11pm.

Musical acts Classic Jam (formerly known as The Trolls) and Leon & The Forklifts will headline the neighborhood celebration. Classic Jam is a local band who are celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year.  They played in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s at Bishop Timon High School dances, parish events, and local taverns and have continued to entertain throughout the years in the WNY area.  Leon & The Forklifts play both original music and covering a variety of artists including Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Van Morrison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Pink Floyd, Sublime, and more.

First Student will provide free shuttle bus service from two locations for the Drums Along the Waterfront Tour of Champions event taking place at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, according to event organizer Jack Gaylord Jr. Featuring the top seven drum corps in the world, the event will take place at Robert E. Rich, Sr. All-High Stadium, 2885 Main St., Buffalo.

The popular Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, continues its 15th season on July 26. A program of the Elmwood Village Association, the market is held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, rain or shine, through Nov. 29. 

Providing musical entertainment on July 26 (weather permitting) will be violinist David Adamczyk from 9:30 to 11 a.m, followed by the Kathy Moriarty Trio from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Market dietitian Nicole Klem and Meals on Wheels for WNY will occupy the market’s community group tables.
