The Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, a popular Western New York tradition featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, is open for the 2013 season! Hours at the open-air market, a program of the Elmwood Village Association, are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine.

Providing musical entertainment on Saturday, June 15, will be singer/guitarist Don Z. from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m., followed by the Nickel City String Band from 9:45 to 11:15 a.m. and singer/guitarist Davey O. at 11:15 a.m. The market also welcomes several community groups this Saturday, including the WNY Book Arts Center, KidBiz, Friends of the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter, Canopy of Neighbors and market nutritionist Nicole Klem.

Offering wine tasting at the market this Saturday will be 21 Brix Winery and Eveningside Vineyards. And, Martin Cooks will be back, weather permitting, preparing fresh breakfast and lunch offerings using only items that are available at the market!

The Electronic Benefit Transfer system is once again in place at the market for the 2013 season, and this week we will begin offering our $2 EBT incentive coupons; just purchase $10 in EBT tokens and get an additional $2 coupon that can be used just like the tokens. The incentive program is courtesy of the Erie-Niagara Tobacco-Free Coalition and the Lexington Co-operative Market.

Additionally, the market is once again partnering with the Erie-Niagara Tobacco-Free Coalition to promote a smoke-free environment this season.
