Former Buffalo Bills Players Tackle Buffalo City Mission Thanksgiving Community Meal

Earlier today, the Buffalo City Mission tackled its annual Thanksgiving “Community Meal” with support from former Buffalo Bills stars, including Cornerback Booker Edgerson (62’-69’), Quarterback/Wide Receiver Ed Rutkowski (63’-68’), Wide Receiver Lou Piccone (77’-82’), and Defensive Back, Jeffrey Nixon (‘79-‘82).The players teamed up to serve more than 250 people a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings. The Bills alums also greeted guests, washed dishes, and of course, signed autographs.

Pet Connection releases holiday wish list

You can add a little joy to the holidays this season by making a donation to Pet Connection Programs Inc. from their holiday wish list. Pet Connection, founded in 1984, is a special care and maternity animal shelter located at 12935 Williston Road in Marilla.

Don't Miss the Independent Health 'Fitness for Kids' Cheer Challenge on Sunday

Come watch these exciting high school and all star cheer teams tumble, perform stunts, cheer and dance in the Independent Health Foundation’s Fitness for Kids Cheer Challenge. All proceeds benefit the Fitness for Kids Challenge program.     

The Fitness for Kids Challenge, which runs through April 30, 2010, encourages children age 12 and under to complete health and fitness activities. In the first two years of the Challenge, more than 200,000 fitness activities have been completed, 100,000 youth have been reached in approximately 200 schools throughout Western New York and 25,000 activity trackers have been submitted.

The event includes a special performance by Buffalo Envy All Stars.

Looking for a quick escape from Western New York? Can you imagine one location that’s home to harness racing, ice hockey rinks, popular consumer shows, farmers’ markets, dining, live entertainment, slot machines and no shortage of excitement 24/7? Does such a nirvana truly exist for those who may love Buffalo but could use a few days away?

Pet Connection Plans November Community Events

November is shaping up to be a very busy month for the volunteers of Pet Connection Programs Inc., a maternity and special care animal shelter located in Marilla.

On Friday, November 5, volunteers and puppies will visit one of Buffalo’s most historically significant buildings — the Larkin at Exchange Building — from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Volunteers and their furry friends will also be at the Walden Galleria in Cheektowaga from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on two Saturdays, November 6 and 13. Also on November 6, volunteers will be at the flea market at the Harvey D. Morin Post on Center Road in West Seneca from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Walsh Insurance Group Donates $50,000 to the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy

On Saturday, October 23rd, over 100 employees from the Walsh Insurance Group donated their time to plant 150 trees and dozens of flower bulbs along the ring road in Delaware Park.  These new trees and their maintenance will be paid for by a generous donation of $50,000 from the Walsh Insurance Group and their subsidiaries.

Coming to the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market on Saturday, October 30: A visit from the Massachusetts Avenue Project and the GrowWNY Bicycle Fender Blender ... and maybe even a few Halloween surprises!
