Annual South Buffalo Alive Garden Tour Set for July 17

South Buffalo Alive’s 16th annual Garden Tour, showcasing approximately 50 beautiful properties throughout South Buffalo and the Old First Ward neighborhood, will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 17. 

The Garden Tour includes a wide variety of homes and businesses showcasing amazing gardens, landscaping and other outdoor features. There are several first-time stops on this year’s self-guided tour, according to South Buffalo Alive’s Marge Ryan. 

Tours begin at Tim Russert’s Children’s Garden located at 2002 South Park Ave., between Choate and Whitfield avenues and next to the Dudley Library. Participants are encouraged to make this their first stop, where they will receive a tour brochure and information to make the tour very simple to follow.

The popular Elmwood Village Farmers Market, featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, continues on Saturday, July 2. Hours at the open-air market, a program of the Elmwood Village Association, are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine, through November. 

Two very popular programs — “Double Up Food Bucks” and “Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables” — return to the market this Saturday!

Michael Olear, a licensed real estate broker and member of the Olear Team at MJ Peterson, will present two educational seminars at Crestmount Senior Apartments, 285 Crestmount Ave., Tonawanda, in May and June.

The seminars are open to the community and focus on real estate topics relevant to older adults and their loved ones and caregivers, including right-sizing and simplifying a living situation, legal and regulatory issues to be aware of, and available resources and tools related to these matters.

Elmwood Village Farmers Market to Welcome 18th Season on Saturday, May 7

Several new vendors, talented local entertainers, community group informational tables, three KidBiz appearances and two Wellness Lanes will highlight a fun-filled 2016 season at the Elmwood Village Farmers Market. The selling season kicks off on Saturday, May 7, and runs through Saturday, Nov. 26. Hours at the open-air venue in Buffalo’s historic Elmwood Village are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine. 

The market will once again start the season on the east side of Elmwood Avenue for the first four to six weeks before moving across the street to its usual location on the west side of Elmwood Avenue. This has become an annual practice for the purpose of grass recovery.
