Local group plans 'Solidarity Rally' at Lafayette Square Sunday

BUFFALO, NY – The Alliance Française de Buffalo, a local organization dedicated to promoting the French language and culture, is hosting a silent vigil in Lafayette Square, Sunday at 2 p.m. The Solidarity Rally is intended to honor the victims of Friday's terrorist attacks across Paris.

Organizers chose the square due to its association with the Marquis de Lafayette, the French nobleman who was one of George Washington's most trusted aides. "Lafayette symbolizes in his life story the ardent affection, respect and loyalty that are key points in Franco-American relations since the birth of our nation," the group said in a statement.
