The search began shortly before 11 a.m. near the luxury home belonging to Dr. Timothy Jorden. The house sits on the shore of Lake Erie in the Lake View area. A neighbor told police he heard a single gunshot fired near the Lake View home just after 9:30 am Wednesday, shortly after the fatal shooting on the campus of the Erie County Medical Center in Downtown Buffalo.

The man Buffalo police call a 'person of interest' in the shooting remains on the loose Thursday.

Jorden is the former U.S. Army weapons specialist who police have been searching for since Wednesday morning. That's when 33-year-old Jacqueline Wisniewski was found shot to death in a stairwell at the Erie County Medical Center where she and Jorden both worked.

Police say the 49-year old doctor may be armed and dangerous.  If you see him, you're being asked to call 911 immediately.
