BUFFALO, NY - You've heard the saying; 'sometimes you have to look back to know where you are going.' Well, it is safe to say when it comes to the Buffalo waterfront, Mayor Brown and his administration do just that.
There have been decades of disappointment and plenty of regret. There was the Bass Pro saga which lasted for years. We asked Mayor Byron Brown if he thought that was a waste of time. The Mayor responded by saying, "I don't think so. What has happened is we have moved on in a different direction." The Mayor added, "I don't think it was a waste of time. There were lessons learned during the process."
As for whether or not the Bill's stadium and U.B. should have been built along the waterfront, the Mayor said it was a mistake not putting them there and added, "There's no question the stadium would have helped reverse the fortunes of downtown. Those are two major errors."
Mayor Brown says what is most important is learning from past mistakes as we look toward the future.
