Poloncarz Tweets Thoughts on Convention Center | News

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Thanks to Twitter, we know how Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz feels about the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center in downtown Buffalo.

Poloncarz is at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte all this week.  Tuesday, he tweeted, comparing that city's convention center to ours, which was renovated a few years ago by his predecessor Chris Collins.

His first tweet read: "Downtown Charlotte is beautiful. Its convention center is modern, bright and sleek, unlike ours which looks like a dungeon both out and in."

He then sent another tweet.  "I would love to consider a new convention center, though cost would be very high."

Then, one more.  "Not to say our convention center can't compete but its brutalistic architecture is not as bright looking as those built in past 15 years."

We contacted the county executive's spokesperson who told us he hasn't heard of anyone here discussing a new convention center.
