LPCiminelli Joins National Safety Stand-Down Initiative, Provides Training to 1,300 Workers

With falls the leading cause of construction fatalities, company raises jobsite awareness of hazards, protective measures and safety procedures

BUFFALO, N.Y. – LPCiminelli joined the National Safety Stand-Down initiative, a nationwide campaign that aims to prevent falls and protect workers. The construction management company provided special safety training sessions to more than 1,300 workers at several construction sites across New York State.

Falls remain the leading cause of fatalities in the construction industry. In 2015, 350 of the 937 construction fatalities (37%) were related to falls, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics — and in most circumstances, falls are preventable.

Four Finalists Also Honored for Exceptional Service to Schools, Communities

The Buffalo Bills and M&T Bank announced and honored the ninth annual M&T Bank Touchdown for Teachers program finalists and winner at a private Draft Party event on April 27, 2017 at the ADPRO Sports Training Center at New Era Field.

The annual M&T Bank Touchdown for Teachers program honors local educators for their outstanding service to their schools and communities. Honorees are chosen based on involvement in their school and community, its impact and their demonstrated commitment to education. Of the 470 nominations received, five educators were declared finalists:

WBFO and AT&T to present Cyberbullying Facebook Live Event May 9 at 1 pm

WBFO-FM 88.7 and AT&T will present a Facebook Live panel event on cyberbullying on Tuesday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m.

Hosted by WBFO Senior Reporter Eileen Buckley, this online event is not simply to raise awareness of cyberbullying.  This program is about developing strategies that students, teachers and parents can use to minimize cyberbullying. The program will also provide online tools and resources to help facilitate conversations and make a cultural shift around this dangerous behavior.

The panel:

·       Tracy Rodemeyer, the mother of Jamey Rodemeyer, the Williamsville teen who was driven to suicide by cyberbullying in 2011.

·       Amanda Nickerson, Ph.d, Director of UB’s Alberti Center for Bullying Abuse prevention.

·       Daniela Wolfe, a social worker for the Amherst School District and serves as a Dignity Act Coordinator.

Anne Kader, SRES, CRP, has joined the Olear Team at MJ Peterson as a licensed associate real estate broker. In this role, she will provide expert guidance and service to clients who are buying and selling homes throughout Western New York. 

As the daughter of Milton Kader who founded Kader Realty in 1954, Anne brings a lifetime of Western New York real estate experience to this role. She is a Seniors Real Estate Specialist and Certified Relocation Professional, and is also a New York State Licensed Residential Appraiser.

No Frills Buffalo Publishing Releases New Novel From Steve Banko

“For No Good Reason,” a novel from decorated combat veteran Steve Banko, is the latest release from No Frills Buffalo publishing.

Banko served 16 months in combat in Vietnam where he was wounded six times. His awards for heroism included the Silver Star, the nation’s third highest decoration for valor, and four Purple Hearts. He has spent more than two decades as a speechwriter and professional communicator and has also spoken to audiences across the country on the issues of war and peace. His nonfiction work has been included in several anthologies and periodicals. “For No Good Reason” is his first novel.

Banko’s speech focusing on post-traumatic stress among combat veterans received the Grand Prize Award from the Cicero Foundation for the best speech of 2010. He currently resides with his wife, Shirley, in South Buffalo and North Ft. Myers, Fla.

Located at 375 Norfolk Ave. in Buffalo, M.A. Moslow & Bro. Inc. was founded in Buffalo in 1917 by Martin Anthony Moslow, great-grandfather of current owner David Moslow. The business got its start manufacturing wood products for the U.S. Army during World War I. In 1930, David’s grandfather, Joseph Moslow, took over the company and began manufacturing wood furniture frames for another Buffalo-based business, the Kittinger Furniture Company. David’s father, Neal, guided the company into the awards and recognition industry in 1960.
