Roswell Park Surgeon Earns U.S. Army Grant to Study Lung Cancer

Buffalo, NY -- Saikrishna Yendamuri, MD, Assistant Professor in the Departments of Surgical Oncology and Thoracic Oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute has been awarded a $555,103 grant from the U.S. Army to develop a way to help predict which lung-cancer patients are more likely to have their cancer recur after surgery.

Up to 35-percent of lung cancer patients who have a tumor removed see cancer return after surgery. If successful in his research, Dr. Yendamuri hopes to improve the process in predicting whether a tumor will return or not.

Real Men Don't Use Barrels

Real Men Don't Use Barrels

Everyone is familiar with the many daredevils who sought glory making attempts to go over Niagara Falls in barrels.  Buffalo, not to be outdone, had its own daredevils going over the largest things we had to offer, GRAIN ELEVATORS!

The Watson Elevator was for many years the highest and most prominent among the large grain storehouses on the Buffalo waterfront. It was a unique elevator situated on an island the same size as the structure itself giving the illusion of the elevator floating on the water. The marine leg tower, about 110 ft. high was the point from which daring men, ambitious to win notoriety, essayed to leap or dive into the Buffalo River.
