BUFFALO RIVER FEST PARK HOSTS  “HALFWAY TO ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARTY” ON SEPTEMBER 5TH

On Friday, September 5th, 2014, the Valley Community Association will host their fourth annual “Halfway To St. Patrick’s Day Party” at Buffalo River Fest Park, located at 249 Ohio Street, Buffalo, New York.  The event will run from 7pm to 11pm and will feature the local Irish band “The Left Overs”.  

“The Left Overs” have established a following in Buffalo and throughout Western New York for over a decade. With music ranging from popular drinking songs to the historical and poignant rebel songs of Irish past, “The Left Overs” offer a large variety of tunes and ballads.  The band was founded by Jerry Shea and Pat Gerken, on the premise that good music will always bring people together. “The Left Overs” are Jerry Shea, Pat Gerken, Elizabeth Shea, Ryan Young, Dave Pruski, Greg Kent, and Tim Ellis.

Jennifer Behm Named Partner at Berardi Immigration Law

Berardi Immigration Law is pleased to announce that Jennifer Behm has been named Partner.

Behm joined Berardi Immigration Law as an Associate Attorney in 2011. She advises multinational companies and individual clients in all aspects of immigration law, including nonimmigrant visas, NAFTA matters, family and employment-based green cards, criminal waivers, consular processing and naturalization. A native of Phoenixville, PA, and current resident of Amherst, NY, she received her Juris Doctor from the SUNY Buffalo Law School in 2011 and a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008.  

The Resource Training Center, S.E.R.V. Niagara Announce Scholarship Recipients

 

Two local veterans have been awarded scholarships through the Gary L. Valeri Scholarship Program by The Resource Training Center of Amherst and S.E.R.V. Niagara. The scholarship, named after the former husband of S.E.R.V. Niagara’s founder who lost his long battle with addiction, will help train veterans to work as Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselors (CASAC).

“The Raising of Leonard Lamply Jr.,” the first book by author John M. Davidson of South Buffalo, has been released by No Frills Buffalo publishing company. 

The story centers around Leonard Lamply Jr., who was born into a less than equipped family. His overbearing grandmother, a junkie mother and a submissive grandfather are only a handful of the people who inject turmoil into his life.

When the Drums Along the Waterfront tour of Champions event brings the top seven drum corps in the world to Robert E. Rich, Sr. All-High Stadium, located at 2885 Main St., Buffalo, for a 7 p.m. show on Aug. 3, one local resident will be making his triumphant return to Western New York.

Jamestown native Zane Franco is a member of The Cadets of Allentown, Pa. We were able to catch up with him between long practice sessions leading up to the Buffalo appearance.

Grisanti Names Kelly Carrigg 'Veteran Of The Month'

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti recently named Kelly Carrigg as the seventh recipient of his "Veteran of the Month" recognition program.

 

A resident of the Town of Hamburg who served with the 82nd Airborne Division, Carrigg is the seventh recipient of a monthly honor presented by Senator Grisanti following an application and nomination process coordinated by staff members in Grisanti's veterans liaison office.

 

"I am pleased to recognize Lieutenant Colonel Carrigg with this honor," said Senator Grisanti, a member of the New York State Senate's Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committees. "Her career of distinguished service is very impressive and her current community involvement is admirable. Now working as a school teacher, she is an ideal role model for our young people."
