Designating the Cross-Border Niagara Region as an International Corridor of Peace—The Council adopted a resolution sponsored by Council Members Michael J. LoCurto, Michael P. Kearns, Joseph Golombek, Jr., David A. Rivera, and David A. Franczyk designating the cross-border Niagara region as an International Corridor of Peace and Cooperation. The cross-border region was at the frontline of the War of 1812, a seminal period in the process of nation building in both the United States and Canada. Within this region, many decisive battles were fought, reporting the greatest number of casualties and the longest continual period of conflict. The War of 1812 significantly affected civilian populations on both sides of the Niagara River, especially when the flames of war burned British-Canadian, American and Tuscarora settlements along the Niagara River in December of 1813.

In keeping with the mission statement of community support, American Repertory Theater of Western New York has created a website and Facebook Page dedicated to opening up online forums to discuss issues facing WNY Artists. This new Website Public Forum page is entitled "The Voices of Western New York Artists."

These public forums are designed for all members of WNY Cultural Groups, media, individual artists and anyone with an opinion that faces Artists in Western New York.

Those visiting The Voices of WNY Artists website and the Facebook page are encouraged to post opinions, offer links to blogs & websites, announce upcoming shows and, most importantly, utilize their voices for the sole purposes of creating dialog and being heard.
