Senator Grisanti Sponsoring Electronics Recycling

New York State Senator Mark J. Grisanti will host a free electronics recycling event on Saturday, September 28.

Electronic waste can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at St. Andrew's Country Day School, located at 1545 Sheridan Drive in Tonawanda.

Old televisions, laptop and desktop computers, cellular telephones, printers, video games and other devices can be dropped off for recycling.

Leaders Host Event to Educate Local Youth on Impacts of Climate Change

Today, New York State Assemblyman and Environmental Conservation Committee Member Sean Ryan, Buffalo Outdoor Urban Education Foundation (BUOE) Executive Director Kate Hilliman, and Western New York Environmental Alliance Energy and Climate Change Working Group Chair Terry Yonker hosted over 25 students from Public School #30—Frank A. Sedita Academy for an interactive educational session regarding climate change and other important issues impacting the Great Lakes eco-system.  This event comes on the heels of President Barack Obama’s historic action on climate change.

Lewiston-Queenston Bridge Marks 50 Years of Service

On Thursday, September 19th, 2013, the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission (NFBC) will host a commemorative binational ceremony to honor the 50th Anniversary of the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge.

Officially opened in 1963, the bridge sits 370 feet above the Niagara River and measures 1,600 feet long, while featuring five reversible lanes that connect Canada and the United States between the historic heritage towns of Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario, and Lewiston, New York.  The Lewiston-Queenston Bridge serves the 5th highest volume of Can-Am commercial traffic, with millions of dollars in commerce crossing over the bridge each hour, representing thousands of trade and tourism-related jobs. The bridge is also the preferred border crossing for local residents and the hundreds of thousands of visitors who shop, stay, and play in the Niagara region every year.

ALBANY, NY - New York State Department of taxation and Finance has announced a new initiative that changes the way homeowners apply for the basic STAR Tax Exemption. The Tax Department as of August 26th, 2013 and confirmed by the department in a written statement, has mailed out 550,000 STAR registration letters to Homeowners in 17 Western Region Counties. These counties include; Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Ontario, Orleans, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates. Including this most recent mailing, the total outreach is 2.6 million homeowners.

Grisanti Announces New Dates And Times For ‘Bringing Government To You’ Satellite Office Hours

Senator Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) today announced his district office will be holding special satellite office hours at town halls in the 60th District in an effort to interact with constituents as part of his “Bringing State Government To You” approach to representing his district that spans from Grand Island to Brant.

The new dates and times reflect a change in Grisanti’s previous efforts to interacting with the residents of his district, which includes the towns of Grand Island, Tonawanda, Orchard Park, Hamburg, Evans and Brant as well as the City of Tonawanda.

“These opportunities to meet with a member of my staff will help establish easy and efficient communication between my district office and my constituents,” said Senator Grisanti. “There is no cost to the taxpayer as I reach out to constituents and bring state government to their community.”

Free Electronics Recycling Event In Hamburg

Environmental Conservation Committee Chairman Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) will be hosting a free electronics recycling collection event in the Town of Hamburg.

"As the Chairman of the New York State Senate Environmental Conservation Committee, we must dispose of our electronics both responsibly and safely. We have previous held successful events in the Town of Tonawanda and the Town of Grand Island where we have collected literally hundreds of thousands of pounds of electronics. I hope the residents of Hamburg and the surrounding communities take advantage of this free opportunity to clean out their homes and dispose their old electronics safely," said Senator Mark Grisanti.
