While the calendar may say the start of winter, preparations for one of the region’s favorite summer events are well underway. The Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops is now accepting applications from restaurants, food trucks, and wineries interested in participating in the 2013 event, set for July 13 and 14 in downtown Buffalo.

Seneca Gaming Corporation upped the ante on casino dining today with the unveiling of the new Thunder Falls Buffet at Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls USA.  The casino’s original restaurant has been transformed through an $8.5 million investment into an open-market style eatery with stunning architectural designs, high-tech lighting and video screens, and a completely revamped menu of more than 100 food items.  Thunder Falls Buffet officially opens to the public on December 21 at 11 a.m., just 10 days before Seneca Niagara Casino reaches its milestone 10-year anniversary.

The owners and operators of Madonna’s have also been running Cafe 59 for the last few years and since we’ve enjoyed our recent visits to the small cafe, we had some high hopes for the food. The restaurant has had some renovations but still has a very simplistic design; aside from a large painting in the dining room (above) the decor is fairly minimal. The majority of the restaurant is centered around the bar, which seats nearly twenty people and where the majority of the customers were hanging out during our Friday night visit.

Erie County, NY- Dunkin’ Donuts will be giving a real caffeine jolt to Erie County Clerk’s Office “Thank-A-Vet” Discount Program.  “We at Dunkin’ Donuts love our veterans, and our participation in the Erie County Clerk’s “Thank-A- Vet” Discount Program shows how grateful we are for their service to our country,” stated Timothy E. Cloe, whose firm Northern Star Restaurant Management Inc., has been running Dunkin’ Donut franchises in Erie, Chautauqua and portions of Niagara counties since March 2011.

All Erie County Dunkin’ Donuts locations will be offering 10% discount to Veterans presenting the Erie County Clerk’s Office “Thank-A-Vet” discount card. 

“I am pleased to partner with Dunkin’ Donuts to offer this discount to our veterans,” said Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs. “Veteran’s Day is an opportunity for us to recognize and celebrate our nation’s heroes, and the Thank-A-Vet Discount Program allows us to show our gratitude all year long.”

Brick Oven Bistro & Deli Adds Sunday Brunch to Expanding Menu

South Buffalo’s popular Brick Oven Bistro & Deli continues to expand its services and will begin offering Sunday brunch on Nov. 11. Brunch service will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sundays, followed by regular dinner service through 8 p.m.

“We are truly overwhelmed by the support we’ve received from the community, and we are always listening to the suggestions of our loyal customers,” said co-owner John Glavey. “Since opening our doors in February, we’ve expanded our hours and added catering services. And, we will continue to make changes that will allow us to grow and strengthen our business and help Western New York’s economy.”
