Tickets are still available for Pet Connection’s Holiday Concert and Dinner Dance taking place from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, December 4, at the Hearthstone Manor in Depew. The event includes dinner, entertainment by Jack Civiletto and The Pyramid Band, a huge basket auction and much more.

While the farmers’ market season is winding down in Western New York, there’s still time to visit the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market to stock up on some of your favorites! The market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and will remain open through December 18, weather permitting.

ECHDC Tables Vote on Modified Plan, Announces a Series of Open Houses

General Public invited to attend sessions and provide input into waterfront development plans

 The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC) announced today that it will delay its vote on the Canal Side Modified General Project Plan (MGPP.) The MGPP emphasizes the development of public infrastructure on the Aud Block, including a series of public canals, walkways and a parking garage. In order to solicit more input from members of the Western New York community, ECHDC will be sponsoring a series of open houses over the next two weeks.

Taylor to give lecture entitled: "Red Jacket and the Role of the Six Nations in the War of 1812"

Dr. Alan S. Taylor, a renowned and award-winning author and historian, will be at the History Museum Saturday, November 13, 2010, at 1:30 p.m., to speak on a subject near and dear to our city and region.

His lecture, "Red Jacket and the Role of the Six Nations in the War of 1812," is particularly apropos for the region and the museum now. Local interest is mounting with even more than the usual fervor as we ramp up for the 2012 bicentennial of the War of 1812. In addition, the museum currently has an exciting and in-depth exhibit exploring Red Jacket in the context of John Mix Stanley's monumental painting "The Trial of Red Jacket."

Ken-Ton Parishes Spread the Word through Seminar on Matthew

The seminar, “Matthew: The King and His Kingdom” will be presented at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Tonawanda, on Saturday, Nov. 13, as part of a collaborative effort of Ken-Ton parishes to bring the Word of God to the community. The seminar will be presented by Dr. Edward Sri (left), a professor of theology and Scripture at the Augustine Institute in Denver and a visiting adjunct professor at Benedictine College.
