Where 2 Fish: As Prey Venture Offshore, So Must You

Where 2 Fish: As Prey Venture Offshore, So Must You

First Class Bass Charters Lake Erie Fishing Report

  • Water temp: 76 to 68 degrees
  • Smallmouth bass: Action is still steady in the Buffalo Harbor.  Bass in the 2 to 4 lb. range have moved up into the 6' to 13' flats in the harbor.  The weeds are starting to develop in these flats.  Try fishing a Booyah 3/8-oz. double willow leaf spinner bait, chartreuse blades and chartreuse skirts, over the top of the weeds.
  • Walleye:  The walleye fishing slowed down the first of the week at Smokes Creek.  There was a lot of fishing pressure over the weekend at Smokes.  Look for the walleye to start moving into deeper water.  Fish areas in the 40' depths.  Places to look: Seneca Shoals and Myers Reef.
  • Perch:  The perch fishing isn't as strong close to the Buffalo Harbor as it was earlier in the year.  The better fishing is moving west toward Cattaraugus Creek.  Look for fish in the 35' to 45' areas near Seneca Shoals.  Also try the deeper waters off of Smokes Creek.

  • As the water temperature has increased the fishing action has, too.  Prospects look good for the NYS Bass and Muskie opener this weekend.
  • The Buffalo harbor is still hot for smallmouth bass action.  Good fish, in the 2-4 lb range, are being caught.  Smokes' Creek area has been producing good small mouth, 4 lb.+ range.
  • Hamburg shoreline has produced some fish but has slowed down this week.
  • Look for smallmouth on Meyer's Reef in 26-32' of water.
  • The walleye action has been hot with good numbers of fish being caught off the windmill (Smokes' Creek area). Seneca Shoals has been producing good limits of fish.
  • Perch action is still steady, but catching much smaller fish.  West of Seneca Shoals has been producing the larger perch.

Buffalo Public Schools Athletic Programs Featured in National Magazine

The Buffalo Public Schools was the subject of a great article that focuses on our revitalized athletic programs and upgraded fields.  Please follow this link to the main article.

It's good to see a national publication bring attention to the pluses our district holds, and making a case for us as a model for other urban school districts.
