Buffalo Stars Playoff Update

(Warwick, PA) - The Buffalo Stars dropped their first game of the Empire Junior Hockey League playoff preliminary round, losing 7-1 to the Syracuse Stars.  Cody Teijeira scored Buffalo's only goal of the game.

The Stars will play their second game of the preliminary Saturday morning at 8:15am and await their opponent as of Friday evening.

Bisons to Host Free Open House at Coca-Cola Field -Saturday, March 5

Buffalo, N.Y. - The Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A Affiliate of the New York Mets, will hold their annual Family Day Open House on Saturday, March 5 from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Coca-Cola Field.

This event is FREE to the general public. Fans will also be able to purchase a ticket to the Bisons game on Saturday, April 9 or Sunday, April 10 for only a $5 donation to Western New York United Against Drug & Alcohol Abuse.

Doors will open at 11:00 a.m. for Bisons Season Ticket Holders. Everyone else is welcome to join the fun starting at 12:00 p.m.

One of the Bisons great off-season traditions, the Family Day Open House has something for fans of all ages, including:

Buffalo Stars Hit the Road For the Playoffs

The Buffalo Stars Hockey Association’s Junior-B team competing in the Empire Junior Hockey League will travel to Warwick, Pennsylvania Friday, March 4, to compete in the league’s playoff tournament.  The team that wins the Empire League title also wins a place in the USA Hockey Junior National Championship later this month.

The Stars’ first round opponent in the Empire League playoffs will be the Syracuse Stars, a team with which the Buffalo Stars split a season-ending series last weekend at Holiday Twin Rinks in Cheektowaga.  The playoff game will be played Friday, March 3 beginning at 4:15pm.  This game is available for Western New Yorkers to watch online at FastHockey.com (please note there is a fee to watch the game online).

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo Bisons are once again hosting their annual Family Day Open House on Saturday, March 5 from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Coca-Cola Field.

Free to the public, this event offers fans of all ages a chance to feed their off-season blues by treating themselves to a free Tyson hot dog, ice cream from Upstate Farms, and a chance to test their skills in the Bisons Batting Cages and Radar Gun, and so much more.

Local Junior Hockey TONIGHT - Buffalo Stars vs. Potomac Patriots

Tonight the Buffalo Stars host the Potomac Patriots in an Empire Junior Hockey League game at Holiday Twin Rinks in Cheektowaga.  The game is scheduled to begin at approximately 7:25pm.

The Stars have clinched a playoff spot in the Empire League and are hoping to earn two wins in this penultimate regular season weekend homestand to gain momentum as they prepare their quest for a trip to the USA Hockey Nationals.

Tonight's game will also be telecast live on Ustream.tv - look up "Buffalo Stars Junior Hockey" in the search window.  The game is FREE to watch.

CLEVELAND, OH - The U.S. Coast Guard is cautioning those who choose to recreate on ice-covered waterways in the Great Lakes region that warmer weather expected this week and coming weekend may accelerate melting of ice fields, resulting in dangerous conditions.

Elmwood Village Association to Host Family Skate Day

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Elmwood Village Association is pleased to present Family Skate Day for all Elmwood Village Association members and guests on Sunday, February 27th, 2011 from 1:00pm - 2:50pm at the Buffalo State Ice Arena!

The Elmwood Village Association will cover the cost of skating for the first 160 Elmwood Village Association members that attend. Not a current member of the Elmwood Village Association? You can become a member during the event and receive free ice time for you and your family compliments of the Elmwood Village!

Each participant must provide their own skates and sign a legal release in order to participate. Skates may be rented at the Buffalo State College Ice Arena during the event.  Skate rental fees are $2 for adults and $1 for children.
