Labatt Blue Buffalo Pond Hockey Tournament Expands to Three-Day Event

 4th Annual Tournament Slated for mid-February on Lake Erie in Downtown Buffalo 

BUFFALO, NY – Labatt Blue beer today announced details for the fourth-annual Labatt Blue Buffalo Pond Hockey Tournament. New this year, the tournament expands to a three-day event on Lake Erie at downtown Buffalo’s Erie Basin Marina.

More than 700 die-hard hockey buffs will gear up, sticks and pucks in hand, for the games which begin Friday, February 11 and run through Sunday, February 13, 2011. Also new this year, registration for the 2011 Labatt Blue Buffalo Pond Hockey Tournament will not begin until Saturday, January 1 at noon to give teams more time to plan for the first-come, first-serve event.

The Buffalo Stars Junior Hockey Club, in partnership with its youth affiliates the Buffalo Alliance Hockey Association, will host its annual Christmas Party and Charity Festival on Saturday, December 18th, from 1-11pm at Holiday Twin Rinks, 3465 Broadway, in Cheektowaga.While the Stars’ junior clubs are in action on the ice, families and fans will be busy off the ice celebrating the spirit of the season with a charity project.  This year, the organizations have chosen to support the New York Air National Guard 107th Airlift Wing Family Readiness Group by hosting a gift card collection.

“In these times of rough economic times, some families who have loved ones oversees have experienced an even more difficult time with the loss of an income while their service person is overseas in Iraq or Afghanistan,” said Stars’ president Pete Preteroti.

The world is coming to Buffalo ... and we’re throwing a party!

HockeyTowne USA Fan Fest, four days of fun for kids, moms, dads and hockey enthusiasts, is coming to the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center in downtown Buffalo December 26-29. Admission is just $5 per person, and children 12 and under are free with a paid adult admission.

A private VIP party featuring The Boys of Summer will be held on Sunday, December 26. HockeyTowne USA Fan Fest will then open to the public from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, December 27 and Tuesday, December 28, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 29.

BOPC Announces "Olmsted Nights Winter Lights" and "FLURRIOUS!"

The official announcement went out for Olmsted Nights Winter Lights the first energy efficient theatrical lighting show in Western New York. Taking place in the historic Delaware Park along Parkside Ave. including the Parkside Lodge this event will use over 50,000 LED, solar, and other energy efficient lights in a theatrical lighting display. Today's press conference took place inside the Parkside Lodge to provide a media preview which included the ceremonial relighting of the fireplace for the first time in 50 years. The lodge was also decked out in holiday decorations similar to how it will look during Olmsted Nights Winter Lights. Live music was performed by O'Connell & Company Productions and Eden Carriage Company gave a preview of the carriage rides that will be available to enhance the experience.
